New virtual programming for families and youth!
Salinas Public Library has been busy creating new programs for the community to view online during the current COVID-19 closure. Parents can engage online in storytime and songs with their children in programs like the following:
A new instructional video called "Animating a Toy Car Using Stop Motion" is also available which teaches elementary school children how to create animated videos using Stop Motion, a free application that makes animation simple for young people.
"We're delighted to offer these online programs that keep our connection with the community strong, as we await the reopening of our libraries," says Ernesto Lizaola, Community Education Manager. "A recent survey of our patrons showed that more than half of all respondents would like to see more virtual programming, and we're busy trying to meet that need as we explore other programs and services." The library has also launched a Spring Reading Challenge, which encourages and rewards youth for reading. This program continues through May 15th, and there is still time to participate and claim a prize here.
"Our entire staff is showing great creativity in the design of these programs, and we hope the community keeps checking our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages to see all of our new programs for families and adults," adds Library & Community Services Director Kristan Lundquist.
