Open to K-12 Salinas Students

The Salinas Public Library challenges you to read books that you always wanted to read, but never did! Complete at least five challenges to receive a free book as a prize (while supplies last). The challenge is open to K-12 Salinas students from April 27th – May 31st. This is not a test or competition, nobody except you is keeping score, so have fun! You may read books that you already have at home, but you can also download free e-books and audiobooks to your phone, tablet, or computer through www.hoopladigital.com or salinaspubliclibrary.overdrive.com

List of Reading Challenges

  • Read a comic book about superheroes
  • Read a book of your choice
  • Read a book that became a movie
  • Read an Award-winning book
  • Read a book about animals or nature
  • Read a non-fiction book
  • Read a book that is the first in a series

You may start claiming your prizes as soon as May 4th.  To claim a prize, visit bit.ly/3cBrHJ7 and fill out the required information. You can pick up your book through our curbside pickup option, but you may also choose a delivery option. Whatever works best for you.  If you need help finding a book for any of the challenges, login to hoopla and check out the recommended list we’ve created for you.  Reading should be an enjoyable experience, thus we encourage you to read books that you enjoy.
