2024 General Election
The 2024 General Election is coming soon, and it is time to make your voices heard.
• The last day to register online or by-mail to vote in the November 5, 2024, General Election is October 21, 2024.
• The last day to register in-person to vote in the November 5, 2024, General Election is November 5, 2024.
• All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 5, 2024, General Election.
• Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 7, 2024.
• Ballot drop-off locations open on October 8, 2024.
• Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or your county elections office.
• Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties beginning on October 26, 2024.
• Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 12, 2024.
Starting October 8, 2024, you can return completed ballots to the ballot drop box at the Cesar Chavez Library at 615 Williams Road.
How Do I Vote?
- Make sure you’re registered to vote! The deadline to register online or by-mail is October 21, 2024. The deadline to register in-person is November 5, 2024 (Election Day). Check your voter registration status online or call (831) 796-1499. Register to vote now!
- All registered voters in California will be mailed a ballot. You don’t have to request a mail ballot. Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 7, 2024.

Where Do I Vote
You can return your completed ballot to the Cesar Chavez Library! Beginning October 8, 2024, you can return your ballot in the Cesar Chavez Library ballot drop box, 615 Williams Road, 24 hours a day up to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Cesar Chavez Library is the only library in the Salinas Public Library system that will have a ballot drop box.
You can also return your ballot:
- By mail: postage is prepaid (no stamp needed) and ballots must be must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 12, 2024. The USPS suggests voters mail their completed ballots at least one week before the due date.
- In-person at any ballot drop box in Monterey County beginning October 8, 2024.
- In-person at any early voting location in Monterey County beginning October 7, 2024.
- In-person at any polling place in Monterey County on November 5, 2024.
- In-person at any ballot return box/early vote location/elections office/polling place/vote center in the State of California.
