Salinas Public Library Literacy staff kicked off the first sessions of classes with two successful orientations this month that were attended by more than 35 participants. Small group classes for Computer Basics  and Citizenship are now being held at Cesar Chavez Library and El Gabilan Library. In the 10-week Computer Basics course, participants will become familiar with the basic operation of a Chromebook, as well as how to send and receive emails; conduct Internet searches safely, and create, edit and share documents and other files. Intermediate and Advanced classes will continue to be held online, but participants will be able to attend Open Lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays at John Steinbeck Library from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Students can practice what they are learning online with the support of Literacy staff and volunteers. In-person Citizenship classes take place on Tuesdays at Cesar Chavez Library on Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
