Our Big Idea: Free Books for Babies
The Salinas Public Library is committed to promoting language, literacy and the love of books. What’s better than starting this at birth? Next year, the Library will be launching a Books At Birth Year (BABY) program which aims to provide free, quality and engaging books to every child that participates and registers for our early literacy programs, including Storytimes and child-parent Playgroups.
Parents will be invited to pickup six free books for their children throughout their first year of life. We will help build the child’s personal library while encouraging parents and children to participate in stimulating, engaging, and fun library programs. We know that books in the home are essential for preparing children for success later in life.
