Wherever Pete the Cat goes, fun surely follows, and that was especially the case last week when Pete the Cat paid visits to our annual Kinder Night events. Cesar Chavez Library and John Steinbeck Library hosted kindergarten children and their families as an introduction to library services. Over 1100 kindergartners and their families enjoyed face painting by Hijos del Sol, an obstacle course through the book stacks, arts & crafts, storytime, and photo opportunities with Pete the Cat.  Several lucky students won new backpacks and stuffed animals in our prize drawings.

This year, the KinderMobile program issued 2,313 cards to kindergartners in Salinas public schools and will visit over 150 classrooms on a monthly basis, allowing students to check out two books each.
