Santa's Elves Have Been Busy
All month long, Santa's helpers have been busy creating holiday activity kits for families and young children. This week, staff will distribute a new "Snow Much Fun" kit on Friday, December 18th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm during curbside service hours. The library team will be offering 200 kits which will include activities with a snow theme. These kits have all of the supplies and suggestions families need for over a dozen silly games that can be played over and over again. There's even some instant snow to make a winter wonderland. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:00 am.
"We knew we couldn't host our annual Snow Day this year, but we wanted to do something fun to replace it," says Ernesto Lizaola, Community Education Manager. "All of our kits provide an opportunity for the community to bring library programs into their homes."
Other activities and kits this month have included Preschool Ornament and Snow-themed kits, Holiday Craft Kits with acrylic painting and greeting cards, a wooden Christmas Ornament made on our laser cutter, and crafty adult activity kits. To show how popular these kits are, when we offered a personalized Christmas Ornament, we received 160 requests within 24 hours! These ornaments are being made with the new laser cutter in the maker space at El Gabilan Library. Over 850 kits have been distributed for the holidays.
