Get in Your Element this Fall with a Library Card
Community members are invited to join library staff on September 12 where the Salinas City Council will proclaim September as Library Card Sign-Up Month in Salinas, during their scheduled City Council meeting. "Salinas Public Library, along with libraries in the nation, continues to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving needs in the community. We are pleased to bring back the Read Away Program in September as part of the Library Card Sign-Up Month celebration and provide our community an opportunity to remove financial barrier on their account, in order to use library services." said Kristan Lundquist, Library and Community Services Director. The Read Away Program allows all Salinas Public Library cardholders to reduce and remove fees from their library account by reading them away. For every day spent reading, $5 in fees will be removed from their account.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Salinas Public Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind everyone about the valuable resources available with a library card. From borrowing books, ebooks, and community passes to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending story time, a library card helps everyone do more of what you enjoy. Get a library card and dive into a new hobby and spark creativity. All without stretching their budget. There’s something for everyone at the library and signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning for students. It's elemental, really—everyone should have one!
