For the past several years, our KinderMobile has faithfully traveled to local public elementary schools throughout Salinas, bringing story time and books for check-out to kindergarten classrooms, and showing up for parent night and other special events. 

Today, on National Bookmobile Day, we are announcing an award from the California State Library that will allow us to begin the process of purchasing a NEW bookmobile. We took advantage of a grant opportunity with the California State Libraries Mobile Services initiative, and were awarded funds that will allow us to begin the 12-18 month procurement process. The grant award was approved by our CIty Council on April 12th. With additional help from another local Foundation (an announcement to come shortly!), we will purchase a new state-of-the-art bookmobile entirely through grant funds.

We hope you are as excited about this project as we are that will allow us to continue to checkout tens of thousands of books to Salinas students every school year!
