Food for Fines

July 1-15
At all 3 Salinas Public Libraries

Bring boxed or canned non-perishable food items to any Salinas Public Library location to pay off your overdue fines and help out your local community. Each single food item will count as $10 off existing fines. This does not include charges for lost or damaged materials. You are welcome to donate items even if you do not have any library fines.

Donations need to be in factory sealed packages and unbreakable containers. No glass jars please. No expired foods accepted. Suggested items: boxed meals, canned soup, peanut butter, cereal, pasta, and tuna. All items will benefit the Food Bank for Monterey County.

Library and Recreation Card Design Contest

The Library and Community Services Department values community input and engagement, and we want your help in designing six new cards for users of our libraries and recreation centers. Our goal is to have TWO card designs selected in each category: kids, teen, and adult. The kids and teen cards will double as library cards and recreation cards. So get inspired and get going! We plan to have new cards in time to celebrate "September is Library Card Month."

The deadline to turn in card design entries is Sunday, July 23 at 6:00 pm.
