Crazy Techie Summer is complete! This summer library program provided Salinas teens with digital art workshops and contests. The library thanks all who participated. The digital art contest winners have been selected.

Daniel Coulter and Jake Fox wrote, directed, filmed, and edited this award winning video.
Judges selected this video because of it's original premise and heartfelt message. It's also quite funny!

Readerman is the superhero who protects the Salinas Public Library and readers everywhere. This comic contest gave teens the opportunity to create a comic about this local superhero.
Estrella Thoeni won with her hand-drawn entry. She submitted chapter one of what hopefully becomes a graphic novel. This first chapter left the judges wanting more!

Cesar Chavez Library has a NEW Digital Arts Lab!
The new lab consists of four Apple computers provided by grant funds. These computers have software for creating comics, music, graphics, photos and videos. Professional software includes Adobe Creative Suite 5 and Final Cut Pro! There are many workshops scheduled for the new lab. Check out the upcoming events at the Crazy Techie Summer webpage. We hope you come use Macs!

Checkout HD Video Cameras |
The new HD video cameras have arrived! They were just purchased with grant funds. Visit the John Steinbeck and Cesar Chavez libraries to checkout a Kodak Zi8 video camera. These cameras are perfect for gathering video footage that can be edited at the library's Digital Arts Lab. Teens can also use these video cameras to make a movie for the Crazy Techie Summer flim contest. |
