Single Day Adventure to the Coast

9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Spend the day in the mountains above Monterey Bay searching through native habitats for interesting creatures of the coast. Join us and learn about our beautiful region we call home. Pick up at 9:00 am and drop off at 3:00 pm at the Cesar Chavez Library. Bring a lunch, a bottle of water, a jacket, and sunscreen. Brought to you by the Salinas Public Library and the Ventana Wildlife Society. This program is free for students that receive free or reduced lunch. For ages 8-12.

Museum Enrichment Week

John Steinbeck Library: June 20-23
Cesar Chavez Library: July 18-21
Times vary by field trip location

Participants will have an opportunity to learn and explore some of the wonderful museums that are located around Monterey County. Some of the field trips will be to Monterey Museum of Art, Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, National Steinbeck Center, Monterey Bay Aquarium and Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Ages 8-12 years.

Learn to Code Week

John Steinbeck Library: June 13-16; 2-4pm
Cesar Chavez Library: June 20-30; 1-3pm

As part of the Summer Reading Program, create and share your own digital stories! This is a four or eight day program using Chromebooks and Scratch to tell stories, while being introduced to core computer science concepts. For optimal success, participants should be reading at a 4th grade level and plan on attending all program days. All materials needed for this program, including computers, will be provided. Ages 9-14 years.

Registration is full for the Learn to Code Week.

Crime Lab Chemistry for Kids

Someone stole Lucy the dinosaur from The Field Museum in Chicago! Help us find her! The thief left this note: If you want to get your dinosaur back, you need to pay me one million chocolate bars!

Crime Lab Chemistry: Solving Mysteries with Chromatography. Children detectives will use paper chromatography to investigate pigment separation and separation of mixtures to solve the mystery of who stole Lucy the dinosaur from The Field Museum in Chicago (This is a fictional investigation).

For ages 6-12. No registration required.
